The meeting of Ministers Vulin and Shoygu via video conference: Assistance from the Russian experts arrived when needed most
The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin spoke today via video call to the Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu, extending his gratitude to the Russian Federation for sending assistance to Serbia to fight the coronavirus.
- On behalf of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, please extend his personal greetings and gratitude to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. The aid you have sent us is immense, much needed and has come at the right time. The people you have sent us are extraordinary, brave, professional, hardworking and very helpful in the fight against the coronavirus. They are helping with their advice and work, and when the Serbs see them in the streets, they are delighted because we know that we are not alone, which brings hope back - Minister Vulin said.
Minister Vulin personally thanked General Shoygu for his influence on the large quantity and timeliness of the assistance that came from the Russian Federation to Serbia and for not forgetting us at this difficult time.At the end of the video call, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoygu wished Minister Vulin and Serbia much success in fighting the coronavirus. Minister Shoygu emphasized that Russian military experts will do their best to help the Serbian people fight the epidemic in the most effective way.
The meeting via video conference call was also attended by the head the Russian expert teams, Major General Mikhail Chernyshov, who briefed Ministers Vulin and Shoygu about the activities of the Russian doctors and NBC teams, which are disinfecting facilities and healthcare institutions across Serbia and are examining suspected Covid-19 patients.According to General Chernyshov's report, Russian teams have disinfected 121,500 square meter areas in 34 buildings, 38,500 square meters of streets and squares, and medical teams have visited healthcare facilities in 10 cities in Serbia. Four medical teams are involved in the treatment of patients in three medical centres in Belgrade and Valjevo.
