Construction of a new hospital for Covid 19 patients has begun




The reconstruction of the existing and the construction of a part of the facility that will be a new hospital intended for patients with Covid 19, with a capacity of 70 beds, has begun today on the grounds of the Karaburma Military Medical Centre in Belgrade. 

The complete reconstruction and the construction of a new part of the facility is a donation from “Termomont” Company and its partners, and given the purpose and urgency of the construction, the workers will work in three shifts, 24 hours a day, in order to complete the facility by 21st April.

Dejan Burčul, the owner and director of the company "Termomont", pointed out that, in accordance with the needs of the Ministry of Defence, the company and its partners decided to make a donation by completely reconstructing and building a new part of the hospital on the grounds of the Karaburma Military Medical Centre.
- It is a reconstruction of the 1,000 square meter facility and a construction of more than 300 square meter extension, where a new 200 meter long access road will be built - said the director of “Termomont”, adding that it is not an easy task due to the short deadlines.

He pointed out that the work began this morning and because of the short deadline for completion, they will be working on the construction in three shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the facility will be completed by 21st April this year.

- In accordance with the tactical and technical requirements we received, the value of the donation is around 30 million dinars - emphasized the director of the "Termomont" Company, Dejan Burčul.

The Head of the Karaburma Military Medical Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Milan Mladenović, said that the facility is being reconstructed for the purpose of accommodating and treating patients with Covid-19.

- It is envisaged that the facility will be able to provide medical care to 70 Covid-19 patients with mild to moderate clinical presentation - said Lieutenant Colonel Mladenović.

According to him, the work on that hospital is in progress and as soon as it is completed, they will start furnishing it with medical equipment and the necessary means of work, after which the admission of the first patients is planned.

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Bojan Jocić, attended the beginning of construction at the Karaburma Military Medical Centre.
