Defense Minister of China Liang Guanglie visited Serbia. The talks focused on strengthening the traditional friendship, training of personnel, projects in the military industry and military medicine.
In an interview to Odbrana magazine General Guanglie stressed that China and Serbia, even though geographically far apart, had had a long-standing friendship relation. Strengthening and deepening the strategic partner relations is the main interest of both states and their shared aspiration.

“Batajnica 2009” air show and what you were able to see there, a rich flight programme with the pilots from 15 countries demonstrating their skills, and more than 100.000 visitors confirm that Belgrade was rightfully a hub of the world in terms of aviation for one day.

MEDCEUR 2009 is not only an abbreviation representing the name of this great military medical exercise, but also stands for unity, humanity, developing professional relations, mutual trust and personal friendship among more than 500 medical workers from Serbia, USA, Azerbaijan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, Armenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Germany, Norway and Ukraine. This exercise also proved to be a part of well-beaten path towards joint response to many security challenges the modern world and our region are facing today.

Changes and amendments to the law on defense and the army could enter the parliamentary procedure early October. Certain amendments will be clearer and more applicable as the Ministry of Defense believes. Laws are not a memorial, but rather should be regarded as a potential for development, as State Secretary Igor Jovicic states.

A ceremony and communion service were held observing the Orthodox Church religious orders in the Temple of ST. Sava at Vracar plateau thus celebrating the start of the professional career of young Second Lieutenants. On that occasion, Jovan Babic, a teacher in catechism in the Military Grammar School, was promoted into the rank of deacon, while Major General Vidosav Kovacevic, prior Head of the Military Academy was presented with the St. Sava medal of the second order. The liturgy was conducted by archbishop Amfilohije Radovic, with bishops Atanasije Rakita and archdeacon Dositej of the HIlandar Monastery assisting him.


Stanislav Binicki art ensemble is commemorating 110 years of its work. The ensemble is bearing the name of a renowned Serbian teacher, the founder of “Belgade army orchestra”, which now is marking a rare and a note-worthy anniversary in its 300 year long existence. This year’s many performances home and abroad and many other appearances in TV shows once again confirm the value and repute of this ensemble.

MA Mira Kun donated a few of personal belongings from a very rich heritage of her father, academic painter Djordje Andrejevic Kun.
