Beginning of Professional Advancement of 9th Class of Advanced Defence and Security Studies

- All of you who are to continue your professional advancement at the Advanced Defence and Security Studies, have already been selected because of your professional and human characteristics. The bodies that have sent you to professional advancement are counting on you and they expect a lot from you – Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin stated greeting the ninth generation of attenders of the Advance Defence and Security Studies at today’s celebration held at the barracks “General Jovan Mišković” in Belgrade.

Minister Vulin underlined that every form of professional advancement in the Serbian Armed Forces was well planned and prepared in which participated people who were expected to reinforce the armed forces and the bodies to which they belonged.

- Every form of professional advancement, and every education will give you something new, and they will advance you, create better people and better experts from you. Every learning will make you capable of transferring the acquired knowledge, so you can share with others what you have learned.

Minister Vulin sent a message to the attenders of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies coming from Serbia who had an opportunity to frequent the highest level of professional advancement in our armed forces, that they should know that they were obliged to repay the confidence that their country and people had given to them, and that they were also obliged to deepen and show the knowledge that they acquired.

- You who come from other countries should know that you are our dear, valuable guests, and that we are not only offering to you our knowledge, and we are not only putting at disposal our professors and experts, but we are granting you a privilege to live and work among the best of us, to get to know the best and most capable that we have, to be familiarised with these armed forces, this country, this nation and people that make all these institutions. All carefully selected attenders from Serbia are the pride of their country and their institutions, so you should appreciate and use this rare opportunity to learn together with them and learn from a country and armed forces that are worth learning from and that one has something to learn from – stated Minister Vulin.

The Serbian Armed Forces are getting stronger, they are growing and developing just like their state and their people are being developed – Minister Vulin underscored.

- There were times when the Serbian Armed Forces were neglected, downsized, disregarded. There were times when the state of Serbia was just like that. But those times have gone for good and the quality of school you are in tells you that the Serbian Armed Forces are just like their state – upright, secure, and successful.

New generation of attenders of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies were also greeted by Head of National Defence School Colonel Mićo Suvajac who wished them success, highlighting that since the establishment of that programme of professional advancement back in 2012 until that day, the ASDS had been successfully completed by 110 attenders from Serbia and abroad, who were discharging responsible duties in their states.

The Advanced Security and Defence Studies represent an organisational unit of the National Defence School which carries out the highest level of professional advancement of officers and civil servants. This year’ attenders of the ASDS include eight attenders from the Republic of Serbia and three from foreign countries (two from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one from the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria).
