Meeting of Minister Vulin and General Brieger
Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin met today Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Austria General Robert Brieger who is staying in a three day visit to the Republic of Serbia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Vulin pointed out that the cooperation between the two ministries of defence was at a high level and that it went in step with good relation between Serbia and Austria which had common experience in the status of military neutrality.
During the meeting Minister Vulin stressed that the establishment of so called “Armed Forces of Kosovo” was absolutely unacceptable and that KFOR represented the only guarantee of security in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija in keeping with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
The minister of defence familiarised General Brieger with the latest incidents at the north of Kosovo and Metohija, where during this morning a forceful raid took place with more than 25 armoured vehicles ROSU and some 100 members of that special unit who intimidated the population of the north of Kosovo and Metohija. He stressed that violence was absolutely unacceptable for Serbia and he expressed his expectations that the KFOR forces would protect the Serbian population in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.
As he pointed out, KFOR is the most responsible for the maintenance of peace and security and it was the only partner of the Serbian Armed Forces in securing the administrative line with our southern province, and he expressed gratitude for the engagement of members of Austrian Armed Forces in KFOR as one of the most significant contributors to this mission.
General Brieger said that Austria was oriented towards continuation of cooperation with Serbia in the field of defence, and that it would, just like Serbia, remain dedicated to maintenance of peace and stability in the region.
Earlier during the day, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović met General Brieger.
