Anniversary of the founding of Serbian Governing Council marked

A delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath today at the monument to Knyaz Sima Marković at Veliki Borak, marking the 214 th anniversary of the founding of the Serbian Governing Council (Praviteljstvujušči sovjet srpski).

With state and military honors, the wreaths were laid by the representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, the President of the Municipality of Barajevo, as well as representatives of associations committed to nurturing and upholding the traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars.

The organizer of the ceremony is Government Committee for Preserving the Traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars.

The Serbian Governing Council, the first executive authority during the uprising in Serbia and the forerunner of the modern Government of the Republic of Serbia, was established on 27 August 1805, at the home of Knyaz Sima Marković in the village of Veliki Borak near Barajevo. The establishment of the Council was one of the most significant moves by the Karađorđe-led uprising champions, all with the aim of gradually establishing an executive power in a state that was being born.
