Congratulatory Message of the President of the Republic of Serbia on the Occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day
I congratulate 23rd April - Serbian Armed Forces Day to all their members.
Celebrating the Serbian Armed Forces Day we remember the day when the Second Serbian Uprising was raised. It was one of the most important events on the path to final liberation and obtaining independence of the modern Serbian state.
Our armed forces played a decisive role in building our modern Serbian state. Importance and significance of the role of the armed forces was confirmed numerous times in the centuries that followed, by which it permanently gained the epithet of the most renowned institutions of the Serbian state.
In the previous year, the Serbian Armed Forces provided full support to strengthening peace, security and stability in the region. A precondition for good operational and functional competence of each armed force is modernisation and unit upgrading. In the past period, we managed through joint efforts to achieve notable results in modernisation of arms and military equipment and enhancement of the work in command, units and establishments of the Serbian Armed Forces. I especially point out the enhancement of military industry and cooperation with the armed forces of other states.
Confident that you will in the future discharge the assigned tasks professionally and responsibly, I congratulate this holiday to you, wishing that the Serbian Armed Forces continue following the path of reforms and modernisation of military organisation. There are many tasks ahead of you which you will successfully execute, so that the Serbian Armed Forces continue being an active element of new security developments in country and region, while the Republic of Serbia is a safe, stable and prosperous country.
