The MMA opens religious service premises for believers of Islamic confession
The opening of the religious service premises for members of the Islamic confession in the Military Medical Academy was attended by State Secretary Aleksandar Živković, Brigadier General Dr. Uglješa Jovičić, Head of the Military Health Department, Sead Nasufović, Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community of Serbia, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević, Head of MMA, with members of the collegium, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps, churches and religious communities.
Welcoming those present, reis-ul-ulema Sead Nasufović said that today it is a special moment in which we testify to the fact that we live in a society in which rights are respected.
“Regardless of the profession we are dealing with, whether we care about safety or health, the focus of our interest and attention is a man and we are all together on one big task”, reis-ul-ulema Nasufović said.
State Secretary Aleksandar Živković stressed that the opening of a prayer room for Islamic believers in the MMA is a significant event for all members of the Defense System of Islamic confession, but also for all members of the Islamic religious community who come to the MMA on a daily basis.
- One of the priorities in the Ministry of Defence is intensive work on respecting all religious beliefs and fostering good relations with churches and religious communities. With the opening of another religious service premises in a large system such as the defence system we recognise religion as a partner for building stability and peace – State Secretary Živković said.
On the occasion of the opening of the third religious service premises for the members of the Islamic confession in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, acknowledgements were presented to Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, State Secretary Aleksandar Živković, Head of the Military Health Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić, PhD, and Colonel Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljević, Head of the MMA.
