Exhibition “Through the Ashes" by Predrag Dragović at the Central Military Club
On the occasion of marking 20 years of defense of FR Yugoslavia against the NATO aggression, a retrospective exhibition of painter and sculptor Predrag Dragović “Through the Ashes” was opened at the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club in Belgrade. Welcoming numerous guests, visitors and lovers of fine arts, Colonel Stevica Karapandžin, director of the Media Center “Odbrana” (“Defense”), said that the Ministry of Defense and Media Center wanted this exhibition to revive the memory of the 78 days of aggression of the 19 NATO countries and contribute to communicating the truth about the heroic resistance against this war that was imposed on us.
- Media Center “Odbrana” recognized Predrag Dragović’s mission that we also support ourselves, the mission to, through artistic creation, talent and metaphor, highlight a fateful part of Serbian people’s suffering. The author also testifies about the resistance of a people to whom freedom is the only mode of existence and the supreme ideal – said Colonel Karapandžin at the opening of the exhibition and announced the upcoming photo exhibition of Tomislav Peternek to open on 4 April at the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club.
Dragan Lakićević spoke about the rich painting and sculptural opus of Predrag Dragović by pointing out that his new paintings, displayed in the cycle “Through the Ashes”, have the ravage of the Serbian places of reverie and the people in the sacred land as the central motive.
- The artist expressed his perception of the overall historical and political inversion on phantasmagoric portraits of the most significant values of the medieval culture in which life, identity and art are unified – said Lakićević.
Thanking the members of the Media Center “Odbrana” for the professional organization of the exhibition “Through the Ashes”, author Predrag Dragović emphasized that the Belgrade Central Military Club, with its galleries, is currently the most professional site for exhibitions in Serbia, characterized by a particular sensibility, unique understanding and unrepeatable sentiments.
The exhibition “Through the Ashes” at the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club will be open until 13 April.
