New issue of ODBRANA
On 24 March 1999 nineteen countries of the NATO started aggression on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, without the approval of the United Nations Security Council. The armed forces and people of the country bravely and skillfully resisted for 78 days. The war ended with the voting of Resolution 1244 in the Security Council and signing of the Military Technical Agreement on the termination of the conflict in Kumanovo.
The aftermath of the aggression of the Alliance was more than 3.500 killed and approximately 10.000 injured. 88 children’s lives were added to the collateral damage. Millions of citizens of Serbia were subject to pain and suffering, huge material destruction was inflicted and invaluable damage to the natural environment caused by the use of prohibited weapons.
