Miletic's statement to Tanjug



The Chief of SAF GS LTG Miloje Miletic stated today that the decision to select Belgrade as the host for tomorrow’s Third Balkan Army Chiefs conference should be viewed as an acknowledgment and a signal of trust deposited in the army and the Ministry of Defense as the organizer of the event.

"This conference is seen as a sign of trust into SAF which has been built during our transformations. At the same time, this is an acknowledgment to MOD for developing international and regional cooperation”, as General Miletic stressed in his statement to Tanjug news agency.

On occasion of 3rd conference of Balkan Chiefs of Armies scheduled for tomorrow in Belgrade, he stated that the conference’s basic purpose and the topics of discussion will be cooperation in the fields of military education, training and personnel advancement.

In his words, there will also be talk of the development of the regional training centers and specialization of personnel, information exchange and the exchange of experience of regional countries in transformation, as well as of the organization and transformation of the armed forces in the region.

The Chief of SAF GS LTG Miloje Miletic also observed they will also consider possibilities for mutual support in countering possible non-military challenges, risks and threats in the region.

Attendance of the Chiefs of Albanian, BiH, Bulgarian, Montenegrin, Macedonian and Turkish armies has been confirmed, as Miletic announced.


Special guests will be the Chairman of the EU Military Committee and Commander of the Naples Allied Joint Forces Command .

As Miletic reminded in his press statement, the first conference of the Chiefs of Balkan countries was held in Greece, in 2007, and 2nd last year in Turkey.

“This forum proved to be an effective way of strengthening regional cooperation between the armed forces of the countries in the region, as the Chief of SAF GS concluded.”
