Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac met with the Vice President of USA Joseph Biden where they both agreed that SAF, in cooperation with USA and its allies could act as a crucial factor of stability in the Balkans. They also discussed the importance of the future engagement in maintaining global peace. Despite disagreements regarding the Kosovo issue, it is still necessary to build good relations, and to improve military economy cooperation, especially through joint economic projects, such as education, training, army modernization programs and improving excellent cooperation with the Ohio National Guard.

Serbia is a crucial factor for the SEE stability. Our geopolitical position is such that its raises the level of responsibilities of Serbia and its army, and its foreign policy, as President Boris Tadic stated during the DIPLOMAC demo exercise of Military Academy graduates, conducted at Pasuljanske livade training field.

In his interview Ilija Pilipovic, Assistant Minister for Material Resources, stresses that the Ministry will financially support the decisions of the defense industry in Serbia to improve the technological process, if that is in harmony with the interests and needs of SAF, while also supporting its export activities, and partner projects with other home and foreign companies.

On occasion of the jubilee celebrated by Milan Blagojevic-Namenska arms factory in LUcani, the Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac stressed that during every foreign visit, the MoD management intends to promote and thus give a necessary boost to our defense industry.

This was the best business year in the last 18 years for Yugoimport-SDPR, according to all business indicators, not obnly when it comes to contracts signed, but alos when it comes to the number realized projects, as Managing Director Stevan Nikacevic said in an interview dedicated to this company’s 60th jubilee.

Minister Sutanovac and LTG Miletic, Chief of SAF GS, visited the training center in Pozarevac. “We support the motto we adhere to in this barracks is that only a trained soldier can win. We are certain that if the army is well-trained and if it has enough funds, we can easily meet the highest standards, as Minister stressed during his visit to “Pavle Jurisic Sturm” barracks.

In Titel, on the Tisa banks, a trilateral exercise between Serbia, Romani and Hungary named “Tisa 2009” was conducted on 14 May. The participants demonstrated the support provided to flood-ridden area and the citizens in these areas. This exercise is part of a trilateral coordinated response in addressing flood consequences.

The Third conference of GS Chief of the Balkan countries, hosted in by the City of Belgrade this year, shows that even partners with different interests can act well together.

The study trip for the officers attending the GS college proved to be most rewarding. The visit to the Sector for Public Diplomacy enriched the existing knowledge and provided the students with new experiences. Our officer also toured the Waterloo field in Belgium during their trip.

15 cadets of the Military Academy, during their 5-day trip to Modena and Naples, had an opportunity to meet and compare themselves to their colleagues and future officers of this modern country. This will add not only to understanding of the military education system but also of resources they have in Belgrade.


During 25th Summer University Olympics, 600 youths doing their military service in the civil sector, will be engaged as help. They have already provided immense help in organization, and in the upcoming weeks they will have to work even harder.


During 1999 aggression 28 officers, NCOs and soldiers of 250th rocket brigade lost their olives. Today the family members are considered members of this unit. True assistance, care provide to the children of those gone, and the feeling that the army is there for them is what remains in heart. What happened cannot be forgotten.
