In the framework of celebration of the Day of the Army and Day of the Infantry, this evening, an official ceremony was held in the Military Club in Niš under the title a “Breakthrough for the end of the Great War” attended by the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, members of the Boards of the minister of defence and chief of General Staff.

The ceremony begun with the reading of congratulatory message of President of the Republic and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić on the occasion of the Day of the Army and Day of the Infantry.

The present were addressed by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović who reminded of the glorious military history of the Serbian people.

- Until 1918, and particularly from then until today, a Serbian soldier was, remained and will be the foundation, stone, and pillar of our state, especially a soldier of then Army which unstoppably pushed on towards Niš and Belgrade, and of today’s Army which is the guardian of the fatherland of Serbia. I am proud of all my soldiers, non-commissioned officers and civilians of the Army. Especially of those who participated in the exercise “Century of Victors 1918-2018”, and I am happy because we from the Infantry, artillery, tankman and other members of the Army had the honour and were so lucky to cooperate with our colleagues, extraordinary professionals from the Air Force and Air Defence - said General Simović and sent the message that “there is no better state than our own, nor other or better armed force than ours”.

- The armed forces and the state should be guarded, cherished, taken care of and loved. We will guard it the best if we do our job honestly and with a lot of love. We, the commanders, both in peace and war, should protect the lives of our soldiers just like our own or the lives of our brothers and our sons. Only then will we safeguard the Army, Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia and all the citizens of our country - General Simović emphasised.

The celebration was attended by representatives of the town of Niš, town municipalities, local government, religious communities, associations, veterans and numerous guests.

Cultural and artistic programme included the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički”, Choir “Branko”, numerous vocal soloists and play actors.
