Minister Sutanovac holds meeting with the Austrian President Fischer
Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac spoke today in Vienna with the Austrian President Heinz Fischer and the representatives of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce about the military industry cooperation and investment continuation in Serbia.
After the meeting, Sutanovac said to Beta news agency that he had received full support from the Austrian President for the continuation of Serbia’s European integrations and for placing Serbia on so called white Schengen list.Sutanovac said that he had informed Fischer of the reform process in the defence system area to date and of other steps taken in the realization of this plan. At the meeting, it was agreed that the Austrian Armed Forces were undergoing similar problems in the reorganization process as well.
The Serbian Minister of Defence spoke in the Chamber of Commerce of the cooperation opportunities in defence industry field and of the possible joint armament and military equipment production, which could be sold on third markets, but in Serbia as well.
He said that Austria was known for its production of transport and combat vehicles, weapons and optoelectronic equipment, which are products of interest to Serbia which plans to acquire certain amount of that equipment for its own AF purposes.
Sutanovac reminded that the Serbian defence industry, in the previous years, had exported EUR 350.000 worth of ammunition to Austria, which presents a symbolic figure, but it shows a possibility of making a product that meets high standards.
Minister Sutanovac, upon the invitation of the Austrian Minister of Defence and Sports Norbert Darabos, will attend the festival of military music this evening. The two Ministers will officially meet on Friday, May 29th in Vienna.
