Minister Vulin: Investments in military sports in its entirety

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin attended today a humanitarian basketball game between the teams of the Army and Mozzart company at the “Šivara” sports hall in Niš.

After the match, Minister Vulin pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces and the Mozzart company have outstanding cooperation, expressing his gratitude for recognizing the importance and value of military sports.

- I invite other socially responsible companies to act just like Mozzart, to help their community, to help their country, to help these dear young people, who, in addition to all of their obligations, outside working hours, without any compensation and stimulation, choose to engage in sports, choose to improve their physical fitness, but they also choose to represent the Serbian Armed Forces - Minister Vulin emphasized.

According to him, all members of the Army team at today's game are professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces, just as professional members are those who will, thanks to the Mozzart company this November, go to the World Military Judo Championship in Brazil.

- Mozzart company has taken care of all their expenses, and they are to take care of bringing some important and great medals from this military championship. The Mozzart company recognized how much the Armed Forces is concerned, how important is the sport in the military, but it is not just a sport in the military. Because, when these guys train, they give an example to others how to live and how to behave, and this is one of the most important features of our army - to act pedagogically in their environment and to help their environment to understand and comprehend what true values are and what makes the Serbian Armed Forces so much loved and so valuable - Minister Vulin said.

He thanked the Mozzart company not only for the donation of the foundation in the “Šivara” hall, which is very important, but on everything they have done so far and on everything they will continue to do.

- Financial assistance means a lot to our boys and girls who are engaged in sports in the military, but more than that when they see that society appreciates and respects what they do - Minister Vulin concluded.

Speaking about the cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Borjan Popović, Director of Corporate Communications in Mozzart company, pointed out that this company is outstandingly honoured to have the opportunity to cooperate with an institution such as the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

- As a company that, in a way, makes living on sports, we strive to help, whenever possible, the development of sports, but also the wider social community. In that sense, it was natural for us to start our cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces through sports. So, more than a year ago, we donated complete sports equipment to the women's futsal team of the Military Academy. This cooperation continued also with the donation of TV’sets for the military health service, and recently we have become a general sponsor of sports in the military - Popović stressed.

He also pointed out that he hoped that such sporting courts which were donated as well as sporting equipment and requisites, but also everything that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces indicate as necessary, will contribute for military athletes to return from future competitions with even more medals.

- I would particularly like to thank the Defence Minister Alexander Vulin, who is unselfishly championing the development of sports in the military, and we in the Mozzart company will support him as much as we can, know and understand - Popović pointed out.

At the half of today's match, sports equipment was handed over to the judoists from the 63rd Parachute Battalion of the Special Forces Brigade, which will participate in the World Military Judo Championship to be held in November in Brazil.

During today's meeting of the teams from the Army and the "Mozzart” company, which is of humanitarian character, they organised throwing of the three-point shots, and all the funds that will be collected will be donated to those who need help the most. This time, it was decided that a donation of RSD 150,000 should be used to help the family of Željko Strelarac, a member of the Special Forces Brigade of the Army who died too young.

The humanitarian game in Niš was attended by Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Army Commander, representatives of the city of Niš, as well as members of the Serbian Armed Forces from the Niš garrison.
