Jubilee 25 years of Association of Military Pensioners of Serbia

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has attended today the ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Association of Military Pensioners of Serbia at the Central Military Club in Belgrade.

- Everything changed in your lives – the states, the names of the armies, the uniforms you wore, the insignia, the Rules of Engagement, the way of addressing, strategies, doctrines, organisations, but one thing has not changed and will not change – your attitude towards the country for which you exist, towards Serbia you love, for which you have put on your uniform, Serbia that is worth living for – the minister of defence said and pointed out that being a soldier is not just a job, but a lifelong commitment.

- Your knowledge, experience and your example are valuable to us. The way we treat you is the message we send to those who may wish to become members of the Serbian Armed Forces – the minister of defence said and added that one of the most important tasks of the ministry of defence is to re-establish a system that was plannedly and deliberately destroyed in the previous period, which previously took care of a member of the Armed Forces from the moment he dressed his uniform, satisfying all the needs of the members of the system and their families.

The Ministry of Defence is trying to solve property issues that rightly perturb military pensioners and invests great efforts in improving the quality of life of all members, especially those who are no longer in active service, Minister Vulin emphasized.

- I wish you to show our friends from abroad once again something they, I am sure, know – that they are ranking among brave, honest and diligent people; that they came to meet once again the most vigilant army the world saw – Minister Vulin said, congratulating the Association on 25 years of its existence.

Lieutenant General Ljubomir Draganjac, Chairman of the Association of Military Pensioners of Serbia, reminded that the Association was formed in complex socio-economic conditions, but it did not prevent them from continuous fighting for the realisation and improvement of status interests, acquired rights and the preservation of the dignity of military pensioners.

- We are glad that the Ministry of Defence, with Minister Vulin at the helm, is doing everything to bring back the disturbed care for military pensioners on the life scene. The idea that the defence system should take care of those who join the army both during their service and after retirement, has encountered a plebiscite-like reception with military pensioners – Draganjac stressed.

Earlier today, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin met with representatives of military pensioners from eight countries who attended the celebration of the Jubilee of the Association, thanking them for honouring the Republic of Serbia and our army by their attendance at celebration of the great jubilee.
