Commemoration on the occasion of 27th anniversary of death of national hero Milan Tepić




 
At the monument of national hero Milan Tepić, in the street of the same name in Belgrade, today, a wreath-laying ceremony has been held to pay tribute on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the death of national hero Milan Tepić.
 
The wreath was laid by a delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and the wreath-laying ceremony to pay tribute was led by Nenad Nerić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs. The wreaths were laid by members of the family, representatives of the association for cherishing the traditions of the liberation wars of Serbia and citizens.
 
Milan Tepić was born in Komlenac near Kozarska Dubica in 1957, and he died in Bedenik near Nova Rača on 29th September 1991 as he did not want to leave weapons to the enemy to kill his soldiers. Major Tepić then blew up the military depot and himself. The monument to Milan Tepić was unveiled on 29th September 2017, on the 26th anniversary of the death of the national hero.
 
Major Milan Tepić was posthumously awarded the Order of the People's Hero of Yugoslavia by the Presidency of Yugoslavia on 19th November 1991 “for an extraordinary feat in the fight against enemies during their attack on the JNA barracks in Bjelovar” and proclaimed the national hero of Yugoslavia.
