Serbia and Turkey military industry agreement
Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and his Turkish colleague Mehmed Veji Gonul, signed today in Ankara Agreement for protection of confidential information and material in the military industry area.
By his assessment, there is a place for improvement of cooperation in the military education and military health service between Serbia’s and Turkey’s Ministries of Defence, which should enable strategic partnership and promotion of institutional cooperation between two countries.
“As much Serbia and Turkey have their own specifics, those countries have the same problems. I am convinced that we can resolve them trough the cooperation, and from our side there is readiness for such cooperation”, Sutanovac said, and remarked that the first results of today’s agreement will be shown during the next year.
Turkish Minister of Defence pointed out that by signing the Agreement, the protection of confidential information in military industry cooperation of two countries, would be enabled.
Gonul pointed out that Serbia and Turkey, apart historical connections, also have strong economic and cultural relations.
“Even though Turkey doesn’t have common border with Serbia, we are looking at that country like a neighbour, and we are warmly accepting the cooperation. We are standing for improvement of this cooperation in the international institution too, besides the bilateral level”, Gonul said.
Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac, invited his Turkish colleague, at the end of the ceremony, to visit Serbia in September.
During the visit in Ankara, Minister Sutanovac laid the wreath in Kemal Pasha Ataturk Mausoleum.
