Meeting of the Minister of Defence and Ambassador of the Republic of Italy




Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin talked today with Ambassador of the Italian Republic in Belgrade Carlo Lo Cascio about the key issues of bilateral defence cooperation.
 
During today’s meeting, it was pointed out that the defence cooperation with the Italian Republic was intensive and comprehensive with possibilities for qualitative and quantitative enhancement in the areas of mutual interest.
 
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Vulin stressed that the announced transformation of “Kosovo Security Forces” to the so called “Armed Forces of Kosovo” was utterly unacceptable deeming it a flagrant violation of the UN SC Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement from Kumanovo.
Also, Minister Vulin pointed out that the Republic of Serbia appreciated the professional engagement of the members of the Italian Armed Forces in the KFOR mission in Kosovo and Metohija, expressing his expectations that the Italian soldiers would remain in our southern province as long as the security situation required it.
 
Ambassador Lo Cascio said to Minister Vulin that the Italian Republic apprecieated the role of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić in the Brussels dialogue on Kosovo and Metohija.
 
During the conversation, the interlocutors expressed the readiness to intensify the military economic cooperation in mutual interest in line with the expressed interests of a great number of Italian companies for the cooperation with the factories of Serbian defence industry.
