St. Vitus’ Day gathering of the families of fallen fighters with members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces




 
Traditional 16th edition of the St. Vitus’ Day gathering of the families of fallen fighters with members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, with participation of more than 50 members of families of the fighters fallen in wars from 1990 to 1999, officers from the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence and members of Zaječar Garrison, were held in Zaječar, yesterday.
 
At the Monument to the Fallen Warriors in the centre of Zaječar, a wreath was laid and homage was paid to the fallen fighters in the wars waged during the nineties. It was followed by organised visit to the National Museum in Zaječar and presentation of the history of Timočka Krajina district.
 
In Nikola Pašić barracks in Zaječar, the participants in the St. Vitus’ Day gathering were welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Srđan Jovanović, Deputy Commander of the garrison, who spoke about the Zaječar Garrison, especially reviewing the civil-military cooperation. The visit continued with a tour of the Memorial Room, which is in the final stage of preparation, and it will soon be presented to the general public.
 
n the Monastery of the Most Holy Mother of God in Lešje on the Paraćin-Zaječar road, the participants in the visit attended Liturgy and the St. Vitus’ Day Moleben dedicated to all the fallen Serbian defenders from the Battle of Kosovo to the present days. After that, the participants in the meeting also visited the monastery of St. Petka from the third century AD in the town of Izvor.
 
Dobrila Koprivica, Chair of the Association of the Families of the Fallen Fighters in the Wars of 1991-1999 thanked the Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and the Ministry of Defence for devoted cherishing of St. Vitus’ Day gatherings that have echo in the hearts of family members of fallen fighters as well as members of the defence system.
