MoD and SAF were hosts to two important sports events which have gathered several hundreds competitors from 27 countries in 4 continents. The World Military Championship in Marathon and the first FIFA-CISM footsal cup, as Minister Sutanovac pointed out at the opening ceremony, these events were not only competitions, but they also contributed to better communication and cooperation between the teams, while developing respect and friendship through sports.

The numbers stated that almost 5 candidates apply for one available post, where 11 boys who finished the elementary school will be competing to become a student of the Military Grammar School.

Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac presented the keys to 25 flats to the former and current members of MoD and SAF in the Belgrade residential part of Bezanijska kosa.

The authors of the drawings which embellished this year’s military calendar won the main prize-tour of the Riverine and a sail on Kozara battle ship. I hope that some of these children will grow to like the military profession and will become a SAF military professional, as Minister Sutanovac said in his greeting to the children.

The participants of “Borovec 2009” exercise showed professional attitude towards the tasks and preparedness to effectively curb all the threats to the safety in the Ground Safety Zone and at the administrative line with Kosovo.

Serbian military observers in UN peace mission in Liberia. The first team of military observers departed for Liberia in 2003 thus laying the foundations for each next team that was to build a good image of the Serbian soldiers. This is why the Serbian team is expected to assume a leading role in the mission.

The battle on Cegar is an event which marks a turnover in the First Serbian Uprising. It took place at a hill near Kamenica north of the town of Nis, on 31 May 1809, as a continuation of offensive attacks of the Serbian rebels led by Karadjordje which aimed at liberating the regions south east of the Belgrade Pashaluk.
