Memory Day



With state and military honours, at the memorial erected in the memory of the WWII victims at the former “Staro Sajmiste” camp in Belgrade, commemorative wreaths were laid and respects were paid to the innocent victims of Nazi camps.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic laid the wreath on behalf of the Serbian Government, while the delegation of MoD included Assistant Minister for Material Resources Ilija PIlipovic and Brigadier General Danko Jovanovic and Veljko Todorovic.

On occasion of the National Memory Day, wreaths were laid also by the living prisoners as well as the representatives of the City of Belgrade, warrior associations and NGOs.

This commemoration is a tradition to pay respects to all innocent victims of fascist and Nazi and Ustasha death camps, and it was attended by the representatives of the Jewsih and Roma communities in Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
