Results of 42nd military marathon
The winner of 42nd world military championship in marathon is Ahmed Mustafa, members of Qatar armed forces, the winner in team placement. The second place went to Zaid Larusi from Marocco while the bronze medal was won by Kaczmarek Kaczmarek from Poland. In team placement, after Qatar which came in first, Poland was second and Algiers came in third. The SAF team in marathon came in seventh, while the best Serbian marathon runner in both military and civilian competition was Sreten Ninkovic, who came in 16th in the military marathon.
In women’s competition Rasa Drazdauskaite from Lithuania came in first, while the second was Maria Ruiz from Spain, and the third to cross the finishing line was Jamee Marty from USA. AS for the women’s team placement, the first women’s team was USA, the Spanish team was second while Germany came in third.This world military championship significantly contributed to the quality of 22nd Belgrade marathon, as 4 out of 10 first marathon runners are members of armed forces. In women’s competition, four out first five women come from the military.
The medals and diplomas were presented to the winners by the Chief of SAF GS LTG Miloje Miletic, while the cups were presented by State Secretary Zoran Jeftic.There were 99 contestants in the military marathon, 80 in men’s and 19 in women’s competition. A total of 25 representations from 4 continents participated in the marathon, which makes the highest number of participating countries in world military marathon.
