The Kosovo Armed Forces has no purpose

Answering a journalist's question about the opposition of Russia to the creation of the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces, Minister Vulin said that such an army has no justification.

- I am very grateful to Russia on its principled position on the formation of the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces, as well as the general attitude of Russia towards Kosovo, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and support for all our foreign policy priorities. Neither all NATO countries are for the creation of the armed forces in Kosovo and Metohija, nor are all the countries of the European Union, as they are aware of the fact that the creation of an illegal military organisation in Kosovo and Metohija can jeopardize peace and stability of the entire Balkans. The emergence of armed groups of people, who will represent themselves as an army, commanded by people who claim to "reach to Niš" and who are commanded or would be commanded by people who are often accused of the most horrible war crimes, cannot contribute to peace and stability in the region. Serbia is determined against the Armed Forces of the so-called Republic of Kosovo and we will do everything we can to prevent such paramilitaries from doing so. What is the purpose of this army in the area with thousands of the best trained KFOR members from exquisite armies, well-equipped and well-commanded? How will some new formation do what all those thousands of members of the best armies of the world could not do? How will any army that is commanded by Agim Cheku ensure peace in Kosovo and Metohija and against whom will it defend this southern Serbian province? Will it be against Serbia whose part it is, against KFOR in that area or against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin wondered and asked the international community and the European Union to take an equally loud position when it comes to creation of an army in the territory of the southern Serbian province, contrary to Resolution 1244, national and international law.
