Latest issue of ODBRANA brings to you



Minister Sutanovac’s visit is a contribution to regional cooperation and promotion of initiative on strengthening security

The Government of Serbia adopted the National Security Strategy and the Defense Strategy as the most important documents for national security.

Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac stated at the Batajnica air base, after the promotional flight of Lasta 95 training plane, that this was an excellent aircraft where both pilots and other aviation could get trained.

In an interview to Odrbana magazine, Giuseppe Cossiga, Under Secretary for Defense of the Italian Ministry of Defense stressed that the priority fields of cooperation with Serbia would be the joint training of the members of special units, cooperation in military education and developing military economy cooperation. This year alone Italy has granted 600,000 EUR worth of donations in military equipment for defusing bombs.


The theme of this issue is the military profession in Serbia-status and prospects for the future. In the organization of the Institute for Strategic Research, a scientific conference was held which served to fully consider all aspects of the military profession, to identify the problems and find applicable solutions. Thirty exposes will be divided into three panel discussions: Military profession and society, Career and status and the Profile of an officer and new challenges.

The members of the Army realized 20 combat shoots, from all caliber grenade launchers, from antitank rocket systems, combat vehicles, infantry, artillery systems for fire support, Bofors L-70 guns and the armament of special units, along with 40 tactical trainings at the level of platoon, regiment and battery.

Brigadier General Miodrag Gordic, PhD, commander of 250th Air Defense rocket brigade, speaks of all the efforts to find the way to make progress in the technical sense through conducting very thorough analyses and by designing actions in projected armed conflicts.


Military Academy is preparing for 25th Summer University Olympics where some 300 doctors, medical technicians and support staff will be taking care of the health of the participants of this greatest sports event to be held in Serbia in 2009.

For the first time, in almost two decades since the outbreak of conflict at the territory of Former Yugoslavia, the authorities have addressed the health, psychological and social probelms of war veterans in Serbia, as the most vulnerable population in a comprehensive and systematic manner under a project “Evaluation of the medical condition of the 90s war participants” , with the bearer of this project being the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
