The First Showing of the Film about Military Hospital in Niš and Opening of the Exhibition “People will coat it all in gold”



Today, in the Great Hall of the Military Club in Niš, the first presentation took place of a documentary film “Military Hospital in Niš – from its establishment until today”, while an exhibition was opened in the hall of the Club titled “People will coat it all in gold”. The first showing of the film and opening of the exhibition was attended by the members of the Military Hospital in Niš, representatives of Army Command, Third Army Brigade, Nišava District, town of Niš, religious, scientific, cultural and health institutions, members of association of retired officers and NCOs and association for cherishing freedom-loving traditions.

The Head of the Military Hospital in Niš, Colonel Jovica Stanojković stressed in his speech that the town of Niš and the Military Hospital were marking a significant jubilee – 140 years from the liberation of the town from the Turks, and as much years from the establishment of the Great military hospital of Niš next to Ćele-Kula, that had been established in order to treat the thousand wounded in the fight for liberation of Niš and southern Serbian territories.

- Cherishing the tradition of this institution – as Colonel Stanojković said – in collaboration with the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film” and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence, we have produced a documentary-historical film that marks all the moments of the past and the significance of this establishment and which properly requites all those who signed in the pages of the Military Hospital history. The documentary film “Military Hospital in Niš – from its establishment until today” was filmed by the crew of the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film” led by a producer, Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ikonić, while development and creation of the film was done by Colonel Dr Jovica Stanojković and Mila Nedeljković as script writers, director Marko Kamenica, editor Dušan Milutinović, organiser Nenad Čobelić, cameraman Mirko Lukanović and cameraman assistant Saša Vidaković.

The first showing of the 44 minute long, highly professional and high quality film was greeted by great applause of the audience in Niš and by positive comments from the people from museums, historical archives and media from Niš. Colonel Dr Jovica Stanojković presented the plaques of the Ministry of Defence to “Zastava Film”, Public Health Institute of Niš, Historical Archive of the town of Niš, Military Museum, Museum of the town of Novi Sad for their contribution to the production of the film and organisation of the exhibition.

Director of “Zastava Film” Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ikonić expressed gratitude on behalf of the awarded.

Exhibition “People will coat it all in gold” organised by the Military Museum, Museum of the town of Novi Sad and Museum of the town of Niš, will be open until 24th January.
