Commemoration of 6 April

On occasion of 68 years since the start of bombardment of cities across Serbia in WWII, the delegation of MoD and SAF, including the Air Force Commander LTG Dragan Katanic, Colonel Goran Vujovic and Lt. Col. Gorqan Milosevic, laid a commemorative wreath on the memorial erected in the memory of Belgrade liberators in April 1941.
The wreaths were laid on the tomb erected at the Quay behind the Hotel Yugoslavia by the delegations of Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the City of Belgrade and a number of warrior associations.

The aggression on Yugoslavia started on 6 April suddenly and without any warning early morning on 6 April 1941. the bombardment inflicted great damage and a loss of many human lives. In a so called 12-day April War the pilots of the Royal Air Forces of Yugoslavia outnumbered by the Nazzi pilots faced them despite this fact, where on the very first day of the War they managed to shoot down several German planes in dog fight.

As part of the program, the Galeb 2 air plane flew over the Zemun Quay.
