Minister Sutanovac gave a lecture at the Faculty of Political Science



Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac gave a lecture at the Faculty of Political Science today on the results of Mod in the domain of the defense system reforms. Minister Sutanovac announced that on Thursday the Government would adopt the National Security Strategy, and other normative acts which in large part define the course of further functioning of armed forces.

The panel was opened by the Dean of Studies of the Faculty prof dr Milan Podunavac who pointed out the importance of cooperation between the Faculty and the Ministry of Defense, especially with the Institute for Strategic Research.

The Minister informed the students of the reform steps MoD is taking since the new establishment had taken post. Minister Sutanovac also defined the basic problems and difficulties the defense system is encountering, while also reminding the present that the army’s reputation had significantly risen which is best illustrated by an increased interest in military studies, and the enrolment into the Military Grammar School and the Academy.
As for the modernization of the armed forces, it still represents one of the main priorities in the situation of economic crisis when bigger investments are harder to make. He defined the current security situation in the region as very complex stressing that there were tensions in the relations of almost all Balkan countries.

After the panel discussion, Minister answered reporters’ questions, stressing that he did not believe that any member of MoD top management had participated in the criminal acts perpetrated by an organized group which was arrested yesterday.
