Minister Vulin with Military Athletes at the Competition in Hungary



Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin attended today a closing and medal awarding ceremony at the “57th World Military Cross-Country Championship” organised by Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Hungary to CISM that is taking place in Balatonakarattya at the Lake Balaton in Hungary.

As part of the ceremony, Minister Vulin presented the medals to the winners in the female category, in individual and team competition, that have achieved the best results in the event “Womens Cross”. The winners of the other categories received the medals from the Minister of Defence of Hungary, István Simicskó .

Moments before the ceremony, Minister Vulin met our military athletes who gave their own impressions of the competition and presented their results.

The sports team of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces at this international military competition, which is taking place from 3rd to 7th November consists of Captain Blažo Maksimović in the event “Long Cross”, Sergeant Bojan Dragojlović, Corporals Miroslav Marković and Mirko Stanković and Private 1st Class Đuro Borbelј and in the event „Women short cross“, Lieutenant Nevena Jovanović, Corporal Nataša Ćulafić and civilian Ivana Petrović.

The best time was achieved by Private 1st Class Đuro Borbelј in the men’s competition who reached his goal in 39 minutes and 31 seconds, while in the female competition the best result was achieved by Lieutenant Nevena Jovanović who ran her race in 17 minutes and 19 seconds.

Under the slogan “Friendship through Sport”, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) gathers the armed forces of 133 countries of the world, on the foundations of an idea of establishing peaceful and secure world and the mission to have the members of the armed forces from all over the world competing at sport theatre instead of theatre of war. In 2013, the Republic of Serbia was admitted as 127th member of that organisation with the aim of participating in a sustainable development of the peace in the world and enhancement of inter-military cooperation, confidence and reconciliation through sport.

Today’s meeting was attended by Head of Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Brigadier General Siniša Radović and Head of Department for International Military Cooperation Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac.
