Chorus of the Ministry of Defence at the Days of Mokranjac Festival




The Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces participated in the 52nd edition of the Days of Mokranjac Festival, a traditional event that has been held in Negotin, the birthplace of the famous composer Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac, for more than five decades.
 
Хор Министарства одбране на Мокрањчевим данима The Days of Mokranjac Festival gathers the most important names in the field of music, as well as fine arts and performing arts.
 
The manifestation was ceremoniously opened yesterday by laying flowers on the monument of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac, and after the greeting of the President of the Negotin Municipality Vladimir Veličković and the words of the conductor Dejan Savić, in the courtyard of the birth house of the famous composer, all the participants of the traditional singing competition and Negotin choirs performed Mokranjac's “The Sixth Garland”, paying the greatest honour to their great personality.
 
Хор Министарства одбране на Мокрањчевим данима The traditional choirs singing competition held in the Negotin Cultural Centre included Chamber Mixed Choir "Lola" from Sarajevo (BiH), led by conductor Josip Katavić, City Mixed Choir "Abrašević" from Valjevo with conductor Dragan Vasiljević, Singing Society "Reverend Rafailo of Banat" from Zrenjanin with conductor Senka Milisavljević, Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces from Belgrade under the guidance of conductor Katarina Božić and Vocal Ensemble "Fortissimo" from Burgas (Bulgaria) with conductor Milena Dobrev.
 
The programme of the Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces included the compositions "The Virgin Mary", "Easter Antiphons", "Resurrect God", "Holly Lord is our God," "Why my thoughts are struggling", " Oro se vije "and" Rum, dum, dum".
 
The winner was chosen by a jury composed of musicologist Prof. Sonja Marinković, conductor Miloje Nikolić and conductor Tamara Adamov Petijević. The winner of the Traditional Competition is the Singing Society "Reverend Rafailo of Banat" from Zrenjanin.
 
This year's programme will last from 23rd to 29th September.
