SEE meeting



State Secretary Dusan Spasojevic is leading the delegation of the Ministry of Defense which participating at the two-day SEE ministerial in Zagreb. With 15 defense ministers as participants at their conference, the main talks will focus on the most important issues in the SEE security.

Main topics are regional stability, promoting the cooperation of ministers, the reform of the defense system in SEE region, regional initiatives and integration processes in the region.

State Secretary Spasojevic had bilateral meetings with the Defense Minister of Turkey Mehmet Vejdie Gonul, the Hungarian Minister of Defense Imre Sekeres, State Secretary of Slovenia Uros Krek and Deputy Defense Minister of Bulgaria Spaso Pancev during which they discussed the topics in bilateral military cooperation and security ad political situation in the region.

In his talks, Spasojevic presented the basic positions of Serbia’s state policy regarding the most important security issue-Kosovo and Metohija. The role of KFOR, as the biggest guarantor of security, especially for the Serbian and other non-Albanian population should remain neutral.


He emphasized the commitment of Serbian MoD to participating in regional security initiatives and building good neighbourly relations and stability, which constitutes of the three priorities of our foreign policy.
All interlocutors gave full support to Serbia’s integration process into EU.

This occasion was taken to sign the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with Croatia for 2009, signed on behalf of Serbian MoD International Military Cooperation Department by Navy Captain Nikola Lunic.
