Rotation of the Serbian contingent in UN mission in Lebanon

A contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces arrived yesterday at the airport “Konstantin Veliki” in Niš. The contingent returned from United Nations mission in Lebanon where it had been discharging its tasks since last November.

Apart from friends and relatives, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces contingent were welcomed by Deputy Army Commander, Major General Želimir Glišović, Commanders of the 1st and 2nd Army Brigades, Brigadier General Željko Petrović, and Colonel Željko Kuzmanović and Colonels Željko Tramošljika and Nikola Dejanović from the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces.

General Glišović greeted the officers and soldiers and welcomed them to the homeland on behalf of the Chief of General Staff, General Ljubiša Diković and Army Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Milosav Simović, praising them for the results achieved in that peacekeeping mission.

Later in the evening, a new contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces took off from the Niš airport heading for Lebanon, where it will discharge its tasks in the mission in Lebanon until November this year.

The journey to Lebanon was made by the members of Infantry Company led by Major Predrag Ružić of the 2nd Army Brigade as well as by staff officers and members of National support element. In Lebanon, the infantry unit will be tasked over the next six months as an autonomous unit in the Sector “East” as part of Spanish contingent.
