Minister of Defence in Belarus




 
The Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, who is in an official visit to the Republic of Belarus, met with the Belarus Defence Minister Lieutenant General Andrei Alekseyevich Ravkov.
 
Two Ministers talked about the enhancement of defence cooperation, especially in military economic and military technical fields and supported the possibility of collaboration of defence industry companies and joint appearance in export of armament, equipment and technology on third markets.
 
Mr. Djordjevic and Ravkov agreed that signing the Agreement on military technical cooperation between two governments created a formal legal framework for further implementation of defence industries collaboration, mainly the establishment and work of the Joint Commission for military-technical cooperation.
 
Minister Djordjevic stressed that Serbia, in accordance with its policy of military neutrality, cooperates with the NATO within the Partnership for Peace Programme like Belarus without aspirations to be a full member. At the same time, it strives to improve partner relations with members of the CSTO, especially with Belarus and Russia.
 
With the wish to raise cooperation to a higher level, Serbia takes an active part in the exercise “Unbreakable Brotherhood 2017”, which will be held in Kazakhstan, Mr. Djordjevic confirmed. He thanked for the principal support of Belarus to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as to our efforts to solve all open issues in Kosovo and Metohija by political means.
 
The implementation of military technical and military economic cooperation was the topic of a meeting with representatives of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus. Having in mind the developed overhaul capacities for maintenance of armament and defence equipment of the Russian origin, as well as capacities for production of weapons and defence equipment, Minister Djordjevic stressed that Belarus represented for us a prospective and significant partner in this field.
 
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic attended the opening of the Armament and Defence Equipment Fair MILEX 2017 and visited exhibits of the Fair.
