Marking the Day of Victory over Fascism

On the occasion of the 9th May, the Day of Victory over Fascism, the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic accompanied by the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic laid today a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala.

The President wrote the following in the Book of Remembrance:

“On this day the evil, which threatened to ruin the mankind, was destroyed.
Serbia made a tremendous contribution to the victory over fascism and unfortunately had a great number of victims.
As long as they attack us, our mothers will give birth to heroes.
As long as Serbia exists, her heroes will be immortal.”
