Minister Djordjevic with associates donated blood
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, the State Secretary Nenad Neric and members of the Extended Board of the Military Health Department have donated blood in the Institute of Blood Transfusion and Hemobiology of the Military Medical Academy. Besides human goal, by taking part in this action the Defence Minister wanted to make an effect on raising awareness of the defence system members about the importance of humanitarian activities.
“Blood should be pre-secured for the sick” is the main principle of employees in the Institute of Blood Transfusion and Hemobiology, whose devotion resulted in the fact that life of patients were not at risk at any moment due to the lack of blood or anyone who needed hemoproducts for treatment. The Institute collects up to 9.000 litres of blood from around 18.000 blood donors annually. Besides field collection of blood in the Institute, every day 35 human persons on average donate this precious liquid.
