Newly promoted officers of US Forces meet with Defense Minister

The Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac met with the CAPSTONE attendants-professional military education program for general and flag officer selectees who are paying an official visit to Serbia.

This nine-member US delegation headed by a retired admiral Harold Gemann also includes 16 newly-promoted brigadier generals of different branches, arms and services as well as senior civil servants, who are advancing themselves at the US National Defense University.

The Minister of Defense acquainted the generals as well as senior civil servants who will in the future take up the top posts in US DoD and Armed Forces with the current security situation in the region. He made point of mentioning and recalling the situation in the region especially Kosovo and Metohija after the unianimous declaration of Kosovo’s independence and the professional cooperation with KFOR.

American officers were received by the Chief of SAF GS LTG Miloje Miletic. On that occasion he expressed his expectations that they would realize after this meeting that even small armies can be well trained, effective and professional, to be successful in implementing reforms and transformation, adjusting themselves to world standards and that they can be a reliable partner in countering all security challenges and risks and threats.

The American officers also participated in the work of a round table dedicated to defense policy and strategy.
