Minister's interview to "POLITIKA" daily

The Serbian Armed Forces regularly pay their debts and the change in NIS ownership structure will not affect the system of defense said Minister Sutanovac in his interview to “Politika” daily.

Minister of Defense, Dragan Sutanovac, rejected all speculations regarding that SAF owned a great deal of money to the Serbia Oil Industry. “The Ministry of Defense is meeting all its obligations to NIS. We have no inherited obligations which might in any way destabilize the system”, said Sutanovac for Politika.

*Has the Ministry of Defense incurred any debts which have not been paid so far?
- Yes, we had debts, according to the records made in 2007, but we paid all our debts during that very year, not only when it comes to oil derivates we paid other debts as well the defense system had incurred.

*We started 2008 without any debts from the previous year? What is the current state of affairs?

At this point we have our regular debts to our current suppliers, NIS included, yet we meet our obligations on time.

*Can any change in the ownership structure of NIS affect the work of MoD?
- No, any change could not p[possibly affect the system of defense nor the functioning of the defense system.

*Do the funds MoD posses guarantee regular payments for services when it comes to oil derivates.?
- The budgetary funds are enough to meet our needs for oil. We used last and the year before to renew troop and other oil reserves, which means that we will have no problems with the oil supply this year.
