Minister Đorđević visits units and institutions of MoD and SAF



Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević has paid today an unannounced visit to several units and institutions of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in order to review the situation in these elements, analysis of preparations and readiness in carrying out regular tasks.

The Minister and his associates visited the barracks "Major Milan Tepic" in Jakovo where he visited the 2nd missile battalion from the composition of the 250th AD Missile Brigade and assured himself of the competence of the unit to react to the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia in the shortest time. In a conversation, Đorđević briefed members of the unit about the planned acquisition and modernization for the needs of AF&AD. After that, the defence minister visited the members of the River Flotilla in Novi Sad, where he was introduced to the activities and tasks of the unit.

The minister ended his unannounced visit at the Military Medical Academy, which he had visited recently also during the regular duty shift on Wednesdays, when the MMA Emergency Centre is duty emergency centre at the national level. Đorđević visited the counters for making appointments at the Specialised MMA outpatient clinic, the pharmacy and the dentistry clinic.

During the weekend, the defence minister and his associates met with representatives of several local governments. On Saturday, Đorđević spoke with the leaders of Priboj and Užice, and on Sunday with the leaders of Čačak and Gornji Milanovac. The topic of discussion with representatives of local self-government was further improvement of cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and particularly implementation of the Master Plan and immovable property which is not necessary for the functioning of the SAF units, for which purchase priority will be given to the administration of local government. During the talks, it was concluded that good practice of holding regular meetings should be continued.

After a tour of the company Sloboda ad in Čačak, where he attended the opening of the Hall for Machining on Friday, Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević visited FAP from Priboj on Saturday. In talks with the management of that company, he confirmed that FAP is important for the Serbian economy. He stressed that at the end of the last year FAP received two million euros to produce 21 trucks for the Serbian Armed Forces. Minister Đorđević said that the idea was that FAP, Zastava Trucks and Yumko Vranje were three companies to become part of the Serbian Defence Industry Group.
