Book launch

The book “High school graduates on officer’s profession” authored by Jovanka Saranovic, PhD, Lt. Col. Srdjan Milenkovic and psychologists Aita Djordjevic and Tatjana Visacki was presented today at the Military Academy.

This book launch was opened by the director of the Strategic Research Institute of the Defense Policy Sector LTG Milan Zaric.

Thanking all those who helped this research, the Head of the Military Academy Major General Vidosav Kovacevic said that the Academy had no longer any problems with the low number of applicants for admission to the academy, as every year this number seems to go up. The fact that thwe whole country supported the army certainly contributed to this fact.

- The Military Academy became known and recognized in the public. In the upcoming period it will become part of the civilian education system and its diplomas will be recognized in the civil sector as well. We delved into the ways of functioning of foreign military academies and their syllabus and we applied these in our academy as well, added the Head of the Academy, stressing that a military profession is a very hard and responsible job yet those who have recognized all the values of the job can surmount these obstacles.

This publication in the organization of the Institute represents the result of an empirical research under the title “The views of high school children regarding the education in the Military Academy”. In this survey some 2527 high school graduates were interviewed. Professor Desimir Pajveic said that this was a very systematic and thorough study which looked into a number of psychological and socio demographical characteristics of the youth thus establishing parameters which make them choose the military profession.
