Shoigy positively assessed cooperation between two countries in exercises

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has suggested today during the meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic that the flight tactical exercise “BARS” (Brotherhood of Russian and Serbian pilots) conducted in October in Serbia takes place every year.

Шојгу позитивно оценио сарадњу две земље у оквиру вежби

“The joint exercise “Bars 2016” was successfully conducted in October in Serbia. The good name of the exercise. We should try to carry out these exercises every year”, Shoigu told Vucic, Tass reports.

He assessed as useful the joint trilateral tactical exercises “Slavic Brotherhood” in which Belarus participated along with Russia and Serbia.

“The joint military exercises are carried out in a good way and we plan to develop that practice. We are soon going to exchange the plans for 2017. Of course, we have to mention the participation of Serbian team at International Military Games 2016, where you achieved good results”, Shoigu added.

Russian Minister invited Serbian representatives to take part in the International Military Technical Forum “Army 2017” and the International Military Games 2017, and he handed the invitation over to Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic for participation in the work of the 6th Conference on international security in Moscow in April 2017.

Shoigu added that Russia is ready to intensify military cooperation with Serbia in the field of military education.

This morning Serbian Prime Minister visited one of Russian combat aviation grounds where he attended the presentation of Russian aircraft and military equipment.

As Vucic earlier said, during his visit to Moscow there would be talks about purchase of six fighter MiG-29 planes, which would make our sky and citizens more secure.

“We are negotiating to take six planes, which would mean that we had ten MiG-29 planes in our resources. That would mean greater security for our citizens compared to the situation we had yesterday”, Prime Minister emphasized.

Vucic stressed that we are paying for the planes with our money and that he is proud of this fact. He also thanked for the price that is drastically below the market one.

He repeated that Serbia would neither attack someone nor take someone else’s, but it would like to be ready to protect its freedom and sovereignty, to be on its own.

He expressed his belief that the planes could come to Serbia in the following three months and that with the expert help they could be modernized and equipped with the latest air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.

Furthermore, he announced the talks with Russia about certain air defence systems, probably M1 or M2 systems, but we need to see what the best and the cheapest is, and what financial instruments and money could be spent.
