The Day of the Air Force and Air Defence
On that day in 1912, based on the decision of the Serbian Military Ministry and General Staff, Field Marshal Radomir Putnik issued a decision on the formation of the Air Force Command based in Nis. The Command encompassed Aeroplane and Balloon Section, Hydrogen Exchanges and Pigeon Mail (all aviation segments at that time). At that time, Serbia was one of 15 countries in the world that had Air Force and one among the top 5 countries in the world which during the siege of Shkoder in 1913 used the aircraft in combat.
