Dress rehearsal of SAF operational capabilities demonstration at the ceremony in Novi Sad
On the occasion of the upcoming celebration marking the Day of Liberation of Novi Sad during the Second World War, today at Novi Sad, on the Danube quay, in front of many citizens of Novi Sad, the dress rehearsal of the demonstration of the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces has been performed through performing the operations of units of River Flotilla, the Air Force and the Air Defence and the Special Army Brigade.Start of the ceremony will be marked, as seen, by demonstration of the qualification of the units of the Guard, where the Honorary Battalion will fire a honorary artillery salvo of three volleys from six pieces of artillery, from the plateau of the Petrovaradin fortress.
In the first part of the dynamic display, the unit of the River Flotilla demonstrated performance of mine countermeasures, performance of river landing with firings from the ship artillery and aviation fire support for the Air Force and Air Defence units. The work of the team of divers on a mission of combat search and rescue, or when pulling a drowning man, as well as the way of control of inland waterways and the procedure when solving the crisis that occurred after the abduction of a commercial vessel with coordination of activities of members of the Special Brigade, River Flotilla and the Air Force and Air Defence.
In the second part, there followed the performance of motorized echelons presenting the latest and most modern materiel and assets in development, combat and modernized vehicles and weapons from local production programme.The citizens of Novi Sad will be able to watch the ceremony and presentation of the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces on the Danube quay, in front of the Military Club, on Saturday, 22nd October.
Tomorrow, from 4 pm, there will be a defile of the Guard members from the Military Club to the central square in Novi Sad with demonstration of military drill and martial arts.Head of the ceremony is Major General Vojin C. Jondic, Chief of Operations Department of SAF, while Brigadier General Zeljko Petrovic, Commander of the First Army Brigade will be leading the spectators through the presentation of sequences.
Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic visited participants in the military part of the ceremony.
