Donation of Medical Equipment of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom

Today, in the Military Medical Academy, Head of Military Health Department Major General Uglješa Jovičić and Defence Attaché of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Colonel Nick Ilić, signed a Protocol on donation of medical equipment in the value of some 1,800,000 dinars.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom sent the donation to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia for the purpose of preventing and combating the corona virus epidemic in our country.

A part of the donated equipment – disinfection tunnel and 14 fridges for safe storage of medicines and medical supplies – is already put to use within the defence system, while 130 remote body temperature monitoring thermometers were delivered today.

Expressing gratitude for the valuable donation, General Jovičić underlined long-lasting friendship of the two countries that had been confirmed on many occasions. As he said, the unselfish support at the right time was yet another proof that despite the difficult situation in the entire world, the cooperation between the two countries continued.

- The medical equipment is of great help to all our patients, and health workers as well. The most importantly, and that is something that we are fighting for every day, we will be able to use the articles of the donation in the military health system after the epidemic, and they will be appropriately used for health protection of all our patients – said General Jovičić.

Colonel Ilić emphasised that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries had continued “in other ways” during the corona virus epidemic.

- This is the help in the right time, and the equipment that we have donated today have a long-term guarantee. I hope that we will continue and strengthen our bilateral cooperation in this way, because two friendly countries will always find a way to cooperate – Colonel Ilić stated.
