Minister Vulin: The combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces is not diminished

- The Serbian Armed Forces are a great support to every citizen of the Republic of Serbia. We are helping in the fight against the coronavirus, but we never forget that our primary function is to protect our country and to keep our combat readiness at the highest possible level - said the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin who visited members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade today at the basic sniper training in the Šabac region.

As the Minister of Defence pointed out, even the coronavirus failed to reduce the combat readiness of our military.

- Every day we prepare, train, and work so that one day, when this disease is over, we are fully prepared to protect our country. The combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces is not diminished - Minister Vulin emphasized.

As Major Ivan German pointed out, the basic sniper trainees are selected in their home units by applying voluntarily and this principle of voluntariness is very important. In addition, Major German added, they must be excellent shooters and exceptionally physically fit.

- The basic sniper training lasts for three weeks, during which about 25 preparatory and single live firings are carried out, as well as the final tactical exercise with live firing "The use of sniper pairs in solving hostage situations". The final exercise lasts for three days, during which the trainees must go on a 50 kilometre loaded march and complete certain tactical tasks, and on the last day the shooting of each sniper pair is evaluated - emphasized Major German.

Speaking about the training, he pointed out that the results have been excellent so far and expressed his expectation that the final exercise would be at the same level.

The Commander of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan also visited the basic sniper training today.
