President Vučić: Serbian Armed Forces has always been a reflection of Serbia's strength
- The Serbian Armed Forces has always been a reflection of Serbia's strength. The stronger and more powerful Serbia, the stronger will its army be – said president of the Republic of Serbia and commander-in-chief of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, who, accompanied by defence minister Aleksandar Vulin, chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, and Army Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Milosav Simović, has visited members of the 37th and 38th mechanised battalions of the 3rd Army Brigade, at the 'Toplica Uprising' barracks, in Kuršumlija, today.
President Vučić thanked members of the Serbian Armed Forces for protecting, safeguarding and defending the homeland, and said that he felt well in his role as commander-in-chief when he saw ready, trained soldiers who love Serbia more than anything else.
- I came here for two things. One is to tell you that we will continue with acquisition stronger, investing in weapons, but at the same time with a pay rise, including an incomparably easier opportunity for you to solve your housing issues, with a far better standard of living. As early as of November, so in December, you will have your first salary increased by nine percent, and I believe that in the years to come every year we will be able to provide it for you, so that you know that your military job is a safe job, that your family can rely on it – President Vučić announced.
The commander-in-chief said that the presence of the army means a lot to the people of Kuršumlija, both in terms of security and economy.
- We wish to further strengthen this part of Toplice, this part of Serbia and that is why we will have about 400 more soldiers in Kuršumlija. It will be an additional strength and an additional economic impetus for our people and for our personnel who need to live in Kuršumlija. This will be one of the strongest centers in the whole country – the president of Serbia said.
President Vučić emphasised that he knew how much the members of the Serbian Armed Forces love the army and how committed they are to its progress, as well as to the progress of Serbia.
- Thank you for making me assured that you all know that if it is required, you have to think that your lives do not have to mean anything at one point of time, you were schooled for that, you are paid for that, and thank you forever for your boundless love for the Serbian homeland, and I will do my best and we will do our best never to bring you into such a situation – the commander-in-chief of the Serbian Armed Forces said.
Presentation of training of a mechanised company and support company on the topic 'Preparing a mechanised troop and support company for march and march execution' was organised at the barracks, after which President Vučić visited a shelter in the premises of the barracks hit during the NATO aggression and laid a wreath to the monument to members of the 354th Infantry Brigade who were killed at the time.
