Minister of Defense meets with the Ambassador of Armenia

Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin met today with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Serbia on non-residential basis, Ashot Hovakimian, whose headquarters are situated in Prague.

According to Minister Vulin, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Serbia and Armenia have traditionally had good and friendly relations, overarched by the willingness to promote and develop the overall cooperation.

The Minister of Defense thanked Armenia for its support in the efforts to find a compromise solution for Kosovo and Metohija.

He stressed that the formation of the “Kosovo Armed Forces” is absolutely unacceptable for Serbia and that KFOR is the only security guarantor in Kosovo and Metohija in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244. According to Minister Vulin, KFOR is the most responsible for maintaining peace and security and is the sole partner of the Serbian Armed Forces in securing the administrative line with our southern province. In this regard, Minister Vulin gave thanks that the members of the Armed Forces of Armenia were part of KFOR.

Ambassador Hovakimian emphasized that today’s meeting was an opportunity for the interlocutors to consider a number of possible issues and topics for expanding defense cooperation.
