Minister Vulin: Serbian Armed Forces growing stronger by the day

Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, visited today the training and shooting carried out by units of the Serbian Armed Forces using BRDM-2MS armored reconnaissance vehicles at the “Pasuljanske livade“ Military Complex.

According to Minister Vulin, thanks to the agreement between the two presidents and the Supreme Commanders of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation, Aleksandar Vučić and Vladimir Putin, the Serbian Armed Forces are equipping and growing stronger.

- The BRDM-2 infantry armored vehicle, which we truly needed, is demonstrating its qualities and characteristics and all the members of the Serbian Armed Forces who are operating on it are satisfied with what they were able to do and learn. Most importantly, all our members are now capable and trained; they are hardworking, dedicated and highly motivated to master this asset in addition to all else. The Serbian Armed Forces can safely claim to be growing stronger by the day, Minister Vulin said.

The Head of the Planning and Development Department of the Land Forces Command, Colonel Vladan Milosavljević, said that after the successful completion of the first part of the task – equipping the Armored Reconnaissance Battalion with the BRDM-2MS armored reconnaissance vehicle has marked the beginning of the second phase of training, reflected in the proper and safe handling of this vehicle.

- We are fully satisfied with the vehicle, and the people involved in the training are extremely motivated and ready to acquire new knowledge, as demonstrated by today’s successful shooting practice. The first part of the training includes theoretical input acquired at the “Mija Stanimirovic“ and “Knjaz Mihailo“ barracks in Niš. After that, hands-on training on this asset at the barracks mentioned and the “Rujnik” training grounds followed. Next, we implemented an observation exercise and got acquainted with the basic features and capabilities of thermal imaging devices on the BRDM-2MS. This allowed us to carry out safe, proper and efficient shooting at “Pasuljanske livade“, said Colonel Milosavljević.

According to the Special Brigade Warrant Officer, Aleksandar Jovanović, over the last three days, members of the Serbian Armed Forces had the opportunity to apply all theoretical knowledge related to driving new vehicles in the field, and pointed out that the new BRDM-2MS is much more modern.

Private First Class Igor Aleksić of 30 Command Battalion was genuinely thrilled for having mastered managing the new vehicle. He emphasized that, compared to the old BRDM, the new one is much easier to manage and operate.

Training and shooting using armored reconnaissance vehicles, which have recently arrived in Serbia as a donation from the Russian Federation, is being carried out since 9 September at the “Mija Stanimirović “, “Stevan Sinđelić” and “Knjaz Mihailo” barracks in Niš, at the “Rujnik” training grounds and at the “Pasuljanske livade“ Military Complex.

During today’s tour, training on BRDM-2MS armored reconnaissance vehicles, aiming at fixed and immediate targets, followed by a display of some of the maintenance equipment included with the donated assets, was presented.

Today’s visit was also attended by the Commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Chief of the Directorate for Operational Affairs of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Želimir Glišović, Chief of the Directorate for Intelligence and Reconnaissance Affairs of the General Staff, Brigadier General Miroljub Čupić and Commander of the First Brigade of the Land Forces, Brigadier General Zoran Nasković.
