Minister Vulin: Proud of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Eve of the Exercise the “Century of Victors”
Appearing in the second TV Journal of the Radio-Television of Serbia, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin spoke about the forthcoming military exercise “Century of Victors 1918-2018” as one of the largest one in the previous years.
- The exercise conducted in the past that could be compared with this one, both in scale and complexity, were exercises “Freedom” and “Unity”. Since then until today, no one dared or could not present such strength and such organisation. Everything is demanding and everything is complex. There will be 8000 soldiers who will participate who are 8000 active members of the Serbian Armed Forces, and we have not called up the reserve. There will be 645 different combat vehicles and I would draw special attention to 100 tanks M84, 100 armoured combat infantry vehicles, 100 different artillery and rocket weapons. How can we not say that we are truly proud that our River Flotilla is going to appear with 14 river ships, 40 boats and tugboats, 8 amphibious vehicles? Our Air Force will appear with 24 aircraft, from MiG, to “Orao”, “Galeb” planes and all types of helicopters, our transport aviation, and due to such a great number and soldiers and assets, we have increased the quantity of ordnance – we planned to use 103 tons of ordnance, but now we are going to use 125 tons – Minister Vulin underlined.
He also spoke about the exercise demonstration of the members of the Military Police special purpose battalion “Kobre”.
“Kobre” are an elite unit tasked with close protection of the highest state officials, but not only with that. That is why we wanted to show what the “Kobre” are like in action and we wanted our public to see that they are here to take care of the security of every our citizen and that they are capable of responding to every terrorist threat. They are the guardians of everything in this country and of everyone in this country – the minister of defence stated and added that the greatest importance of the exercise “Century of Victors” was that it would show that “the units of our armed forces are just like they are”.
- In peacetime, everyone does exactly what they would do in wartime – Minister Vulin stressed.
As he underlined, the Serbian Armed Forces more than ever paid attention to their members, their families and future.
- When you enter the Serbian Armed Forces, from the first till the last day you are a part of our armed forces and we take care of you. Upon initiative of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, a project has been initiated of mass housing construction. We expect that more than 8000 flats for the members of security, and up till now we have had 10 per cent increase in salaries, and now we will have another nine per cent salary increase, while daily allowances were increased from 800 to 1100 dinars, and we have introduced a solidary assistance for the birth of a child, in case of an illness, which means that we take care of security, of safety of our armed forces and their families. This exercise is a proof that you have armed forces which you can rely on – join it – the minister of defence exclaimed.
