Improved visual identity of Serbian Armed Forces military personnel

Improved visual identity of Serbian Armed Forces military personnel

The Collegium of the Minister of Defence, held in the Small War Hall of the Old General Staff building, today, has considered and presented, among other things, a proposed “new visual identity” of professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić defined the task of changing the way of marking uniforms and proposals for the introduction of new clothes in a set of field and service uniforms at the meeting held in the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces on 1st December 2017.

New solutions for professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces will be implemented in three phases, in parallel with the initiation of a procedure for amending the Regulation on military uniforms and insignia in the Serbian Armed Forces and the Regulation on the Coat of Arms of the Serbian Armed Forces, military flags, military markings and other symbols and features of the Serbian Armed Forces.

In the first phase, professional soldiers would wear on the existing M-10 uniform the ribbons and badges, for the exemplary soldier, the best marksman and others, as well as the arms/service badges on the insignia, while the commanding officers would wear ribbons - decorations for military commemorative medals and ribbons on a short sleeve shirt of a service uniform.

During the next phase, professional soldiers would wear full-colored insignia and ranks of the Serbian Armed Forces, the signs of the ranks with red ribbons and the badge of the arms-service, the emblem of the unit, the sash with the inscription “for freedom and honour of the fatherland” and the flag of the Republic of Serbia, instead of the previously reduced-camouflage colors. This phase would include the purchase of military casual shoes along with the boots. Commanding officers would wear flags of the Republic of Serbia and sash with the inscription “for freedom and honour of the fatherland” in colour, on the right sleeve of the service uniform, which would certainly improve the visual identity of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

In the third and final phase, professional soldiers would get a novelty in the model of polo shirts, short jackets and a modern military backpack, while the commanding officers would get jackets with a set of service bag and uniform.

Regardless of whether the second and third phases, for which certain funds are needed, are implemented, an open application procedure is considered to be drafted for the purpose of gathering preliminary designs and choosing the appearance of a service and ceremonial uniform in the Serbian Armed Forces.
