Croatia is unwilling to condemn the Ustasha's movement

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin laid a wreath at the Monument of the Defenders of the Fatherland in Astana, symbolizing the struggle against fascism. On that occasion, he commented on the statement by Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović that the greeting "Za dom spremni" (Ready for Home) is an old Croatian greeting.

- It does not matter when something was said, but who said that and why he said that. Neo-Nazis have long tried to explain that "Zig Heil" is actually a translation of the old Latin greeting "Ave Cesare" and that the right hand raised was only a greeting to Caesar. Of course, this did not go because everyone knows that this is evidence of the evil that has killed millions of people in Europe. It is not, therefore, important when someone pronounced "Ready for Home", but it is important that it was pronounced and still is pronounced by the Ustashas. It is important that it was pronounced by those who killed hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Roma, and that even today it is pronounced by those who would like to have massacre against Serbs, Jews, and Roma, against all those who are different, repeated.. Ms Kitarovic would have done a big favour to both herself and Croatia and the neighbourhood, including the Serbs and Serbia, if she once again found the courage to condemn the Ustasha's movement instead of justifying it and instead of trying to portray it as something that may not have been so terrible. Unfortunately, I do not see that willingness with her and I do not recognize this power in the Croatian society, Minister Vulin said.
